Chakras can be imbalanced by becoming blocked (underachieve) or overly intense (overactive). When this happens, our being as a whole is imbalanced, often leading to illness and/or emotional blocks and creating an unhealthy environment. The following can help you determine the well-being and balance of your Root Chakra.


Name in Sanskrit: Muladhara means foundational support or basis. “Mula” meaning root, “adhara” meaning support, basis (of existence)


Element: Earth


The energies of the Root Chakra helps in recognizing our strong connection to the Earth. Keeping us rooted to our inner self spreads positivity and happiness in life. It relates to our basic, primal needs of survival, stability, and support.


The Root Chakra is located at the base of the spine, in the perineum.

The associated color is RED.


Glands/Body Parts:

Adrenal Glands, Spinal column, Anus, Rectum, Colon, Prostate, Cells, and Blood.

Qualities and Functions

The Root Chakra connects us strongly with the physical world. Its resonance based is in the ages of conception to 7 years. If the Chakra is in harmony, one would feel well grounded in life. You have a strong vitality, stability, trust and courage. Muladhara represents the energy of "Mother" or the earth energy, one who nurtures, encourages and affirms.

Adrenal Glands, Spinal Column, Anus, Rectum, Prostate, Cells, Blood, and Bones.


Underactive

Neglecting of Self, underweight, poor discipline/boundaries, depression, passivity, lethargy, chronic disorganization, fear of change, feelings of not belonging. One would feel definite lack of balance. Feeling ungrounded and insecure, which often results in the feeling "Victim" you may lack physical stamina and energy. finding it difficult to cope with the demands of live. You may also feel like you are floating through life , without having the feet firmly established to the earth.


Balanced

Abundant health and energy, feeling grounded and settled, comfortable with your own body, sense of safety and security, happiness is job/career, satisfied with life, and material prosperity.



Overactive

Overeating, craving unhealthy foods, paranoia, nervousness, aggression, dominant behavior, addiction to adrenaline activities, hoarding, and material fixation.

Constipation

Issues with the legs, feet, knees, groin, hips, ankles, rectal/anal problems
